National Anthem of Sabah State (Sabah Tanah Airku)
Sabah Tanah Airku (English: Sabah My Homeland) is the official state anthem of Sabah, East Malaysia.
Anthem text
Sabah tanah airku
Negeri kita yang tercinta
Pemuda pemudi
Semua marilah
Bangunlah bersatu semua
Marilah bersama serta maju jaya
Merdeka sepanjang masa
Bersatu segala bangsa sentosa
Sabah negeri merdeka
Official English translation
Sabah, my homeland
Our beloved state
Men and women, come
Arise all together
Come together to be successful
Always staying Independent
Unite all, nation prospers
Sabah, the Independent state
Best Food at Kota Kinabalu
Ikan Panggang
This is stingray, the same species that killed Steve Irwin, the crocodile hunter. This fish is not a human killer in nature, but once they were killed and put on a hot grill — they taste awesome! Especially with sambal and fresh lime juice, cooked on banana leaf. Yummy to the max.
This bread has revolutionized the fate of shoplots at Damai. The kopitiam, call Foo Yuen, makes the most awesome bread in the world that it *melts* in your mouth the moment you put it in. I am having difficulty on how to put this into proper words, you have to try it yourself. Fu Yuan also takes their Teh C Ping into a whole new level. 1/2 of the drink is evaporated milk… trust me, you’ll be in heaven.
Ngiu Chap (Beef Noodle)
Can you resist beef noodle with tasty thick broth?
Sheng Rou Mian
This dish is created for the love of pork… no, this noodle is not served with raw pork meat. I believe the original name derives from boiling the pork in hot broth before serving — thus the soft and tender thin pork slices. What makes the soup special? The minced pork lards. The dry noodle is perfect combination too. Why? You tarik the noodle once, and you quickly send down the dry noodle with soup.
TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN KOTA KINABALU (PART 2)
Sapi Island
A good place for sea, sun and sand. A 15 mins ride from Jesselton Point to Sapi Island was an interesting trip. It was much affordable and very convenient at the travel point just located at the city centre.
Peak Nam Toong Temple
The temple is very colourful & bright one. It seemed almost bright new. Nonetheless, the decorations, carvings, paintings and altars looked really beautiful. The entrance to the temple is free, but do keep in mind that the temple is open for use as well. One man came in and prayed, which meant we had to pay respect.
Filipino Market
You will see a lot of souvenir shops at Wawasan Plaza, Centre Point, Wisma Merdeka, etc. But, if you want to be able to bargain, go to the Filipino market. They sell handicrafts, t-shirts, key chains, sarongs, carved wood, and many more.
Sunday Market
The Gaya Street Sunday Market opens every sunday from 6:30 am to 1.00 pm. They sell pets/animals such as puppies, kittens, rabbits, turtles, fishes, etc. They also sell various types of flowers, fruits, sarongs, batiks, handicrafts, local cakes, pottery, etc. You can see all of these sold under big shady umbrellas here and since they sell things out in the open, you can always bargain. The prices they offer are already cheap though. If you don’t want to go there when it’s crowded with too many people, just come early.

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN KOTA KINABALU (PART 1)
Mountain Torq Via Ferrata
At 3776 meters above sea level, the Via Ferrata created by Mountain Torq at Mt. Kinabalu is the highest and Asia's first.
Anyone planning to climb Mt. Kinabalu should include the Via Ferrata as part of their itinerary. It will add more hours on your time spent on the mountain and will definitely add more fatigue and body ache but you will come out of the experience all the more better for it. After all, since you'll be bragging about summitting Kinabalu, might as well add the Via Ferrata as part of your bragging rights.

The climb up Kinabulu (the highest peak in southeast asia) was extremely tough (if your of good fitness and strong mind!) but well worth the effort!!
The first day is physically tough and you climb up, up, up and up for hours before you reach the base camp where you sleep before attempting the submit at 2am. The landscape goes through Jurasic Park-esque jungle to red rock arizona and is very beautiful. The day we climbed it was hot and humid with a little rain and wind at points.

Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park
When in Kota Kinabalu, take the time to visit the nearby islands of Tunku Abdul Rahman Park. The marine park is made up of 5 islands (Sulug, Gaya, Sapi, Manukan and Mamutik) and are 15-20 minutes away by speedboat from the main jetty in KK. Sapi, Manukan and Mamutik are particularly popular - great for snorkelling, scuba diving, water sports or to just spend a day lazing on the beach! Try to avoid weekends, it gets busy and don't feed any wildlife (namely monkeys) if you come across them. If you don't scuba dive, check out Seawalking, only available on Sapi island (costs around RM200+). Island hopping is also a great way to check out more than one island in a day - check for packages when you buy tickets at the jetty. Boats depart from Jesselton Point Jetty, the Sutera Harbour Resort and Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort.

My City (Kota Kinabalu)
Kota Kinabalu, formerly known as Jesselton, is
the capital of Sabah state in East Malaysia. It is also the capital of the West Coast
Division of Sabah. The city is located on
the northwest coast of Borneo facing the South China Sea. The Tunku Abdul
Rahman National Park lies on one side and Mount Kinabalu, which gave the city its name, is nearby. Kota Kinabalu proper has a
population of 452,058 while the
larger urban area which includes Penampang district has an estimated population
of 651,658. It is the largest urban centre in Borneo and the sixth largest in Malaysia.
Kota Kinabalu is often known as K.K. within Malaysia
and internationally. It is a major tourist destination and a popular gateway
for travellers visiting Sabah and Borneo. Kinabalu
National Park is located about
90 kilometres from the city and there are many tourist attractions in and
around the city. Kota Kinabalu is also one of the major industrial and
commercial centres of East Malaysia. These two factors combine to make Kota Kinabalu one of the fastest
growing cities in Malaysia.

The state where I live (Sabah)
Sabah is one of 13 member states of Malaysia and is its easternmost state. It is
located on the northern portion of the island of Borneo. It
is the second largest state in the country after Sarawak, which it borders on its southwest. It also
shares a border with the province of East
Kalimantan of Indonesia in the south. In spite of its status
as a Malaysian state, Sabah remains a disputed territory; the Philippines has a dormant claim over much of the
eastern part of the territory. The
capital of Sabah is Kota
Kinabalu, formerly known as Jesselton. Sabah is often referred to as "Land Below The
Wind", because of its location just south of the typhoon-prone region around the Philippines.
